Its been a wonderful inaugural term for the drawing class. We did a whole range of exercises to practice observation and technical skills. The hardest thing to learn in drawing is the skill of “seeing”.
Below are a couple of drawings done by the beginners class in term 3, 2015.
Observational drawing of shoes using charcoal and conte on brown board.
The drawing method for these images was “Blind Drawing”. This is where the drawer closely observes the model and slowly draws what she sees. The drawing paper is covered so the drawer can’t see what marks she is making. This technique takes a lot of practice and the outcomes can be very expressive.
These images were made using charcoal on paper.
